Vacation Bible School
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Coordinators of Religious Education (CRE), Directors of Religious Education (DRE), pastors
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This is a combined ministry of St. Andrew and St. Elizabeth Seton Parish. Its purpose is to provide for a fun, educational faith experience for the youth of both parishes.
FUNCTIONS:
This committee chooses a VBS program to be offered for the children of the two
parishes, plans for the program, collects donations, trains volunteers, and oversees the four day
activity which takes place each year in late June.
OUTCOMES/GOALS:
We measure our success by the number of participants, and the overall experience of the volunteers and children attending.
TIME REQUIRED:
The VBS Committee meets once a month from January through June.
Participation as a "program area" chairperson requires additional time to plan the programming for each respective area of the week long program.
TRAINING & SUPPORT PLAN:
Materials are provided by the company which produces the
VBS program, augmented by the pastor and the catechetical leader of each parish.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Volunteers need a desire to work with children and a love of the young. They also should have an understanding of and willingness to share their faith with the participants.
TENURE/LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT:
As long as the VBS volunteer is willing to serve.
