Bereavement Support
RESPONSIBLE TO / REPORTS TO:
Pastor
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY (Why do you exist?):
To help families plan funeral liturgies for their loved ones.
FUNCTIONS:
To meet with the bereaved and guide them through the choosing of scripture readings and music to be used during the liturgy.
OUTCOMES/GOALS (How will you measure your success?):
Ability to meet the needs of the bereaved in planning fitting and meaningful funeral liturgies in a helpful and supportive manner.
TIME REQUIRED:
- One hour or more per funeral to plan the liturgy
- There are 10 – 12 funerals per year in the parish.
TRAINING & SUPPORT PLAN:
None
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Knowledge of Catholic liturgy, biblical readings, and music.
TENURE/LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT:
There are no pre-set commitments. Members can participate as long as they wish.
