Care Giver Assistance Network
RESPONSIBLE TO / REPORTS TO:
Catholic Social Services, pastors of St. Andrew’s and Seton
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
(Why do you exist?): Provide support for people who are caring for a spouse, parent, sibling, or friend who is suffering from a debilitating disease.
FUNCTIONS:
- Monthly lead a small group of caregivers by giving them a chance to talk about the issues they face and then share our own experiences and offer suggestions on how to deal with issues
- Support members through phone calls, etc
OUTCOMES/GOALS (How will you measure your success?):
When members continue to come to the support group and say that the group is helping them, we are succeeding.
TIME REQUIRED: One meeting a month (2 hours minimum).
TRAINING & SUPPORT PLAN: The volunteer facilitators are trained by Catholic Social Services.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Good listener/facilitator
- Understanding of what it is like caring for a loved one.
TENURE/LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: The length of assignment of the volunteer facilitators continues until they feel they are unable to continue with this ministry.
