Ushers

Ushers' duties consist of the following:

• Greet parishioners and guests as they arrive for Mass
• Offer any help to people in wheelchairs, walkers and any disabled or elderly.
• Ask any disabled if they would prefer the distributor bring them Communion or if they want to go to Communion on their own. If they want the distributor to bring them Communion, the usher lets the distributor know before Mass.
• Make sure the wine and hosts are out out at the proper place for the Mass.
• Make sure the altar has all cups and distributing dishes available along with the linens for hand washing by the priest.
• Arrange for a family to take up gifts.
• Collect the weekly offerings and, after Mass, put the collection in the safe in the sacristy.
• At the end of Mass, make sure all windows and doors are locked, and all lights have been turned off and all altar candles extinguished.
• Assist with any emergency should it arise.

All ushers/greeters are given a blue sports jacket to wear during Mass so that they can be distinguished from the rest of the congregation in case someone needs help or assistance
